Basics of Psychodrama: Spectrograms, Locograms, and Sociograms
Learn three of the most versatile sociometric tools— spectrograms, locograms, and sociograms— and discover how they can be used at any phase of a group’s life: warm-up, action, or sharing. You’ll leave ready to put them into practice immediately, with the confidence to adapt them for any population.
While sociometry is often used exclusively for warming a group up, its power extends far beyond the opening moments of a group. In this experiential training, we’ll explore three sociometric tools— spectrograms, locograms, and sociograms— and the many ways they can be integrated into all phases of group work.
Through demonstration, guided practice, and open discussion, you’ll learn how to facilitate each tool in ways that deepen connection, bring forward group themes, and open pathways for action. These methods are simple enough to begin using right way, yet flexible enough to adapt to a wide range of clinical, community, and educational contexts.
Whether you’re new to psychodrama or looking to expand your sociometry toolkit, this workshop offers a clear, practical entry point to Moreno’s triadic system of psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy.
You’ll leave with:
The ability to confidently facilitate spectrograms, locograms, and sociograms from start to finish
Clarity and when and how to use each tool across all three phases of group work
Practical strategies to adapt these methods to different populations, settings, or goals
Skills to ensure safety, inclusion, and meaningful engagement throughout the process.
No prior psychodrama experience is required. This training offers CE hours for PA-licensed social workers, counselors, and psychologists, and counts towards certification is RTR/Sociometrics as well as Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy.
