Psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy are action-based methods that can bring any group to life. Whether you’re brand new to experiential approaches or ready to rekindle your excitement, this training offers a clear, dynamic introduction to the concepts, structures, and tools that make these methods so effective .

You’ll experience the flow of a psychodrama session, learn how sociometry builds safety and cohesion, and see the role of group psychotherapy principles in shaping the process. Through live demonstration, structured exercises, and group participation, you’ll get a real taste of what these methods can do, and why so many participants leave wanting more.

You’ll walk away able to:

  • Describe the core principles of psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy

  • Understand how the three parts of the triadic system complement and support each other

  • Facilitate simple sociometric exercises to increase group cohesion

  • Identify the three phases of a psychodrama session (warm-up, action, sharing)

  • Recognize opportunities to use action-based methods in your work

This training is the starting point for our Basics of Psychodrama series, but it also stands alone as a practical, inspiring introduction for any facilitator, therapist, or helping professional. No experience required— just curiosity and willingness to step into action.

No prior psychodrama experience is required. This training offers CE hours for PA-licensed social workers, counselors, and psychologists, and counts towards certification is RTR/Sociometrics as well as Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy.
