While sociometry is often used exclusively for warming a group up, its power extends far beyond the opening moments of a group. In this experiential training, we’ll explore three sociometric tools— spectrograms, locograms, and sociograms— and the many ways they can be integrated into all phases of group work.

You’ll leave with:

  • The ability to confidently facilitate spectrograms, locograms, and sociograms from start to finish

  • Clarity and when and how to use each tool across all three phases of group work

  • Practical strategies to adapt these methods to different populations, settings, or goals

  • Skills to ensure safety, inclusion, and meaningful engagement throughout the process.

Through demonstration, guided practice, and open discussion, you’ll learn how to facilitate each tool in ways that deepen connection, bring forward group themes, and open pathways for action. These methods are simple enough to begin using right way, yet flexible enough to adapt to a wide range of clinical, community, and educational contexts.
